Position Summary

The Manager of Quality and Safety is responsible for leading and managing all quality assurance, safety, and compliance activities to ensure that the organization’s products, services, and work environment meet regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer expectations.

 

Principle Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) compliant with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain workplace safety programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop processes to ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met. 
  • Design, install and evaluate quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques; design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; analyze production and service limitations and standards; recommend revision of specifications when indicated; formulate or help formulate quality assurance policies and procedures.
  •  Conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools.
  •  Interface with other components within the company and responsibility for dealing with customers and suppliers on quality related or performance issues.
  • Provide Quality Assurance advice to Executive Management, Engineering and Production Supervisors.
  • Coordinate and schedule Internal and External Quality Audits and report results to Executive Management in order to assess the effectiveness of the quality system and maintain the ISO certification status.
  • Ensure incoming and outgoing quality are maintained and/or improved on by using direct and indirect authority provided in position description.
  • Manage metrology and quality activities within the organization according to provisions of the position description including, but not limited to, establishing and maintaining a calibration system appropriate to the type, range and volume of calibration and testing undertaken.
  • Ensure incoming materials conform to quality expectations.
  • Work with Purchasing to ensure conformance to the supplier performance tracking process.
  • Assist in the training of personnel for requirements of process and incoming product inspection.
  • Design, implement and maintain appropriate process controls.
  • Produce and maintain written quality standards and procedures which conform to quality expectations, engineering specifications, customer requirements and specific applicable industry standards including military and ISO standards.
  • Manage quality improvement / lean activities and projects company-wide.
  • Conduct reliability studies and report findings along with suggested improvements.
  • Conduct failure analysis to determine the cause of specific defects and with other departments, to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct product and process audits to ensure finished goods conform to quality standards and expectations.
  • Perform in-process inspections to monitor and control processes.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and root cause analysis.
  • Deliver training programs to promote safety awareness and compliance across all departments.
  • Maintain accident records and drive initiatives to minimize workplace injuries and incidents.
  • Partner with leadership to design and implement corrective actions for identified safety risks and nonconformances.
  • Work with all departments to ensure products shipped conform to company quality standards, engineering specifications and customer requirements.

 

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Strong technical knowledge of quality management systems and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis, corrective action processes, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency with quality and safety management software and tools.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field. Equivalent experience is also accepted.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance, Safety Management, or Compliance, preferably in a manufacturing, production, or industrial setting.

Experience with regulatory compliance standards such as ISO 9001, OSHA, FDA, or GMP.
