SAFETY & QUALITY MANAGER (Automotive Warehousing & Distribution (U.S.)

Location: Taylor, MI
Salary: $80K-$100K
Position Summary
The Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for leading all health & safety and quality functions within the facility. This role ensures compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements, drives a strong safety culture, and maintains high-quality standards to meet customer expectations in a fast-paced automotive logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Lead and enforce all workplace health and safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and applicable state regulations
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement in safety performance
- Lead safety meetings and employee engagement initiatives
- Promote a proactive, zero-incident safety culture
Quality Management
- Oversee all quality processes to ensure compliance with customer and automotive standards (e.g., ISO awareness preferred)
- Manage inspections, audits, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Investigate quality issues and implement root cause solutions
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of materials
- Support customer audits and maintain strong customer relationships
Operational Support
- Partner with operations to embed safety and quality into all processes
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Monitor KPIs and drive performance improvements
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen)
Training & Development
- Develop and deliver safety and quality training programs
- Ensure employee compliance with procedures, certifications, and standards
- Coach supervisors and managers on safety accountability and quality expectations
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain safety and quality records, logs, and compliance documentation
- Track and report KPIs (incidents, near misses, defects, audit results)
- Communicate performance trends and improvement plans to leadership
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in safety and/or quality leadership in warehousing, logistics, or automotive
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and quality management systems
- Experience in automotive or just-in-time (JIT) environment preferred
- Proven experience with audits, investigations, and corrective actions
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
