General Superintendent
Design-Build / Commercial Construction

A nationally active design-build construction firm is seeking a General Superintendent to lead field operations out of its Irvine, California office. This role is responsible for overseeing multiple active projects, driving schedule performance, enforcing safety standards, and setting the tone for operational excellence across the region.
This is a senior field leadership position for a builder who knows how to run complex projects, develop strong superintendent teams, and maintain accountability in fast-paced environments.
The Role
The General Superintendent will provide oversight and leadership to project superintendents while partnering closely with project management, preconstruction, and executive leadership. This individual will be instrumental in maintaining consistent field standards and delivering projects safely, on time, and to the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee field operations across multiple active projects
- Lead, mentor, and develop project superintendents and field staff
- Enforce safety programs and ensure full compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Drive master schedules, phasing plans, and site logistics
- Maintain quality control standards across all projects
- Coordinate with project managers to resolve field issues impacting cost, schedule, or scope
- Support preconstruction with constructability reviews, logistics planning, and scheduling input
- Establish and enforce consistent field procedures and best practices
- Serve as senior field representative with owners, inspectors, and subcontractors
Required Experience
- 15 years of construction experience with significant time in superintendent leadership roles
- Strong background in design-build and commercial construction
- Proven ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Deep knowledge of field operations, safety, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination
- Experience leading teams and holding field staff accountable
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Southern California markets
- Background in large-scale commercial, industrial, healthcare, or mixed-use projects
- Proficiency with construction scheduling and field technology tools
