Senior Project Manager
Heavy Civil / Utility Construction
A well-established heavy civil and utility contractor is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex infrastructure projects across the NJ/NY region. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and has deep experience delivering utility and public infrastructure work.
The Role
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met. This position works closely with field leadership, owners, municipalities, and utility agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple heavy civil / utility projects simultaneously
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
- Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, inspectors, and utility representatives
- Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and regulatory agencies
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, municipalities, and inspectors
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and accountability across project teams
- Support preconstruction, estimating, and work acquisition as needed
Required Experience
- 10 years of construction management experience in heavy civil and/or utility construction
- Proven background in water, sewer, storm drainage, gas, electric, roadway, or related infrastructure work
- Experience managing public-sector projects and working with municipalities and utility authorities
- Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, and contract administration
- Ability to lead teams and make decisive, field-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Experience working in New Jersey, New York, and/or Pennsylvania markets
- Familiarity with union environments and emergency / on-call utility work
