The rewards of being a community coordinator are numerous – especially if you love working with international students and enjoy interacting with people in your community!
The community coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to:
- Recruit and screen volunteer host families.
- Collaborate with local high schools to arrange student enrollments.
- Provide support to students and families through monthly check-ins during the school year.
- Promote cultural exchange in your community.
Ideal candidates will have the following experience, characteristics, and attributes:
- Have parented or worked with teens for three or more years.
- Bring experience from education, sales, or youth counseling.
- Are optimistic, motivated, flexible self-starters.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Have a strong network within their community.
- And/OR a strong love for children and culture
As an independent contractor, your income is limited only by how many students you place. We think it is ideal for a community coordinator to place and support three to six students each year – though some place as few as one student and others place as many as ten or more.
