Position Overview
Under direct supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, the Groundskeeper is responsible for the care and maintenance of Pawnee Nation grounds, tools, and mechanical equipment.
Essential Functions
1. Works with the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all groundskeeping standards are achieved and maintained;
2. Maintains accurate records of all preventative maintenance and routine repairs performed on mechanical equipment;
3. Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs on mechanical equipment by inspecting belts, checking fluids, replacing filters, greasing bearings, etc;
4. Uses hand tools, including shovels, rakes, saws, pruning saws, hedge and brush trimmers, axes, etc;
5. Operates power equipment, including mowers, tractors, snow blowers, leaf blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, pruning saws, etc;
6. Performs grounds maintenance work, by cutting the lawn using power mowers; trimming and edging around sidewalks, buildings, etc; cutting, pruning, and removing trees; raking/blowing leaves; spraying lawns and trees with fertilizers and insecticides; removing seasonal debris; clearing sidewalks of snow; preparing burial sites, etc;
7. Maintains a clean, organized storage area for tools, equipment, supplies, etc;
8. Performs maintenance duties, when necessary;
9. Performs housekeeping duties, when necessary;
10. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results, as required;
11. Performs other duties, as assigned and within the scope of the position.
Educational Requirements
Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience Requirements
Minimum: Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience groundskeeping and maintaining/repairing mechanical equipment.
Preferred: Two (2) or more years of experience groundskeeping and maintaining/repairing mechanical equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Computer:
1. Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc;

1. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;
2. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships;
3. Ability to assist others and perform as a member of a team;
4. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
Miscellaneous:
1. Ability to pass a background screening;
2. Must meet the Physical Demands of the position;
3. Must be skilled in the use, maintenance, and repair of all types of lawn and garden power equipment, etc;
4. Must be skilled in the care and maintenance of grounds, tools, and mechanical equipment;
5. Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize;
6. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, and work well under pressure;
7. Must be able to lift heavy equipment;
8. Must wear proper clothing and footwear;
9. Must maintain confidentiality;
10. Must work independently;
11. Must have a valid Oklahoma driversÂ’ license and be insurable with Pawnee NationÂ’s insurance carrier.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Work is generally performed outdoors where exposure to natural weather conditions and various dusts and mists may occur. Prolonged standing and walking may be on uneven surfaces or unstable ground, in remote, steep, rugged, mountainous areas with unimproved dirt roads and trails. Situations may occur where prolonged sitting, driving, walking, or waiting is required. Evening, weekend, and/or holiday work will be required. Must be on call for emergencies.
