What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical / Plant Engineer || Process Equipment + Commissioning position at Pave Talent?
Most mechanical engineers spend their careers maintaining plants someone else designed. This role puts you on a greenfield site where the mechanical systems, the layout, and the standards are still being set, and you help set them.

Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, a NYSE-listed specialty electronics materials company standing up a greenfield manufacturing facility in Fremont, CA. The site produces a first-to-market copper platform that has never run at commercial scale. You get in at the ground floor, while the plant is still being built.

This is a classic mechanical design and plant support engineering role on a brand-new facility. You own the mechanical systems that keep production running: pumps, valves, instrumentation, and the equipment that moves product through the line. You design it, support it on the floor, and help commission it as the site scales.

- Lead mechanical design and detailed engineering for new process equipment, reactors, wet benches, blending, and packaging lines
- Read, create, and revise P&IDs to define mechanical and process systems
- Specify and size pumps, valves, piping, and associated instrumentation
- Support equipment on the plant floor, troubleshooting and improving reliability as production ramps
- Run commissioning activities for new systems, from installation through startup
- Coordinate with vendors on equipment scope, schedule, and delivery
- Partner with process, operations, and EHS teams to keep the build on track

Greenfield work at this level is rare. You are not patching a 30-year-old plant. The copper platform has never gone to commercial scale, so the systems you design here become the production standard. For a mechanical engineer who wants ownership instead of maintenance tickets, this is the move.
