Most AOI jobs are one of two things. You program a vendor's inspection machine on a single line and keep it running, or you write vision software for equipment someone else installs.
This seat is the whole loop. The company designs and builds much of its own production equipment, so the inspection system is yours from concept through the handoff to manufacturing: the cameras and lighting, the defect library, the parameters, the fixtures, the reliability proof, and the report that tells production what the machine found.
The products are specialty materials used in electronics manufacturing, made at plants around the world, and the inspection standards you set here travel to those sites with you.

- You like both halves of the job: hands-on hours at the equipment and cross-functional hours with R&D, quality, and production.
- You measure yourself on false-positive and false-negative rates, and you keep tuning until the numbers move.
- You prove reliability with gage R&R studies and calibration protocols instead of asserting it.
- You can turn a quality engineer's defect catalog into an inspection program a machine can actually run.
- Travel to other plants, up to a quarter of your time including international trips, is a plus for you, not a burden.
This is not the seat for someone who wants to babysit one line's AOI, or for a vision-software developer who never wants to touch hardware.

- AOI systems from concept through deployment and transfer to manufacturing, meeting quality and production requirements at each site.
- Programming and operation of inspection equipment that catches placement and alignment errors, surface defects, out-of-tolerance 3D geometry, and other escapes.
- Parameter tuning for accuracy and throughput, and troubleshooting that keeps equipment downtime short.
- Defect libraries for new products, built with product management and R&D and loaded into new and existing equipment.
- Preventive maintenance, calibration protocols, and attribute gage R&R that prove each system is reliable.
- Custom fixtures and inspection programs for specific production needs.
- Inspection reporting for quality and production, and continuous-improvement work on yield, cost, and delivery.
