Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, a small, publicly traded medical device company preparing for regulatory approval and the commercial launch of its lead product. Every quarter's numbers carry real weight with investors and auditors.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲

• Accounting Managers, Senior Accounting Managers, and Assistant Controllers at public companies who still prepare the work themselves

• Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) who started in audit and want broader ownership than a siloed role at a large company allows

• Decision-makers who bring solutions, not just problems, and step outside their job description when the team needs it

• People energized by change: a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, a modernized close, and a company scaling toward launch

If you have not touched a journal entry or a reconciliation in years, or your background is financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or budgeting without SEC reporting, this is not your role.

𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

This is a new role and the senior accountant on a lean team, working side by side with the Corporate Controller as their right hand. You start at roughly 75% hands-on accounting and 25% reporting, then grow into drafting the filings and running SEC reporting day to day within 6 to 12 months.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬

You report to the Corporate Controller in a three-person accounting group under the CFO. No accounts payable, accounts receivable, or tax; your time goes to the close, technical accounting, and reporting.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘄𝗻

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close: journal entries, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and a shorter close every cycle

• Prepare the schedules and support behind the Forms 10-K and 10-Q, then take on drafting them

• Monitor internal control over financial reporting under Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404 and work directly with external auditors on testing and quarterly and annual audits

• Account for leases (ASC 842), research and development (R&D) costs, stock-based compensation (ASC 718) and the employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), fixed and intangible assets, and discontinued operations

• Partner with operations on inventory, standard costing, and variances, plus sales commissions and group purchasing organization (GPO) fees

• Help migrate the books to a new cloud ERP system going live early next year, and bring more of the filing work in-house

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞

This is a small team, so everyone does the work. You will be the person who knows how every balance sheet account is handled, not the person who reviews someone else's summary. Priorities shift quickly ahead of a launch, and the right person finds that exciting rather than stressful.

𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱:

• Active CPA license

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting audit (ideally 3 to 5 years at a Big 4 or national firm) before moving into industry

• Hands-on SEC reporting: you have prepared or audited 10-K and 10-Q filings

• SOX experience and strong technical knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Broad, hands-on experience running a close: journal entries, reconciliations, leases, fixed assets

• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀:

• Medical device, biotech, pharma, or other product manufacturing experience (in-house or as an auditor)

• Inventory and standard cost accounting

• Mid-market ERP experience or an implementation (Acumatica, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar)

• Filing tools such as Workiva, Toppan Merrill Bridge, or Donnelley

𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗙𝗜𝗧𝗦

𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆: $125,000 to $165,000, depending on experience

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀: Annual performance-based bonus

𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆: Stock options

𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with employer match, and paid time off
