Position SummaryThe Program Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing veteran-focused programs that align with the organization’s mission. This role ensures the successful execution of services, fosters community partnerships, and provides direct support to veterans and their families. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with experience in program development, veteran services, and nonprofit management.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development & Implementation- Design, implement, and evaluate veteran support programs in alignment with the organization’s four pillars: economic empowerment, social belonging, wellness, and therapeutic support
- Develop annual program plans, goals, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
- Coordinate outreach, recruitment, and participation efforts to engage veterans and their families
- Coordinating and overseeing volunteer recruitment and management
- Build and maintain relationships with veteran organizations, government agencies, corporate sponsors, and community partners to enhance program offerings
- Represent the organization at networking events, conferences, and community meetings
- Collaborate with local businesses and sponsors to develop job placement, training, and mentorship programs for veterans
- Support efforts to grow membership across Hays and Travis counties
- Oversee day-to-day program operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness
- Track and analyze program outcomes, participant feedback, and impact metrics, providing reports to leadership and stakeholders
- Use customer feedback and engagement feedback to drive future programming
- Oversee and manage volunteer coordination, program staff, and service providers, ensuring high-quality service delivery
- Fully utilize our CRM, BetterUnite, to run all aspects of program operations, events, and membership
- Assist in grant writing (as subject-matter expert), fundraising efforts, and sponsorship outreach to secure program funding.
- Develop program budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Serve as a liaison for veterans, ensuring they have access to necessary services, including mental health support, career resources, and community engagement opportunities.
- Advocate for veteran needs at local and state levels, promoting policies and initiatives that support their well-being.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of experience in program management, nonprofit leadership, and/or veteran services.
- Strong knowledge of veteran issues, military culture, and community-based support services.
- Experience in budget management, grant writing, and fundraising.
- Experience working with and navigating CRM systems
- Ability to work evenings and weekends to coincide with programming needs for the community
- Comfortable using technology to streamline communications and processes
- Have a passion for Patriots’ Hall mission of serving veterans and their families
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including the ability to give clear direct feedback, set clear expectations, and connect with people on a personal level
- Strong analytical, critical decision making, project management, and process improvement skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a team-oriented approach
- Capacity to manage priorities, multitask, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Resourceful self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and has a penchant to open quick conversations if expectations are unclear
- Ability to keep projects on track financially, creatively, and in accordance with project deadlines
- Military service experience or direct work with veteran populations
- Experience working for a nonprofit organization
- Experience with case management, workforce development, or mental health services
- Knowledge of VA benefits, veteran resources, and legal assistance programs
