Position Summary:
The CAAS Payroll Specialist will manage and advise on payroll operations for multiple clients, providing specialized consulting and compliance support. The ideal candidate will be a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or have extensive, hands-on experience with multi-state payroll, construction prevailing wage compliance, and payroll-related due diligence for private equity or M&A transactions.
This position requires advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, deep payroll tax knowledge, and the ability to handle diverse client engagements in a fast-paced, advisory-focused environment. A background in HR—particularly in benefits administration and compliance—is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and process accurate payrolls for a variety of clients across multiple locations.
Provide guidance and support on payroll operations, compliance, and related technical matters.
Address payroll tax issues and work with appropriate agencies to resolve notices or discrepancies.
Oversee multi-jurisdiction payroll requirements, including varying tax and regulatory obligations.
Offer direction on specialized payroll considerations, including wage requirements and taxable compensation.
Support payroll-related reviews for business transactions, helping assess compliance and structural considerations.
Partner with internal teams to deliver coordinated and comprehensive client support.
Perform payroll reconciliations, oversee year-end reporting, and ensure adherence to applicable laws and standards.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, professionalism, and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or minimum 5 years of experience managing complex payrolls.
- Extensive experience in multi-state payroll tax compliance and reporting.
- Deep understanding of construction payroll, prevailing wage, and certified payroll reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience managing multiple clients simultaneously in a consulting, accounting, or professional services environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with leading payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, etc.).
