Position Overview
An established manufacturing operation is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to help lead daily production activities across multiple manufacturing processes, including injection molding, connector assembly, and stamping. This role works closely with the Production Manager to ensure production goals, quality standards, and operational KPIs are consistently achieved.
This is a hands-on leadership position that blends technical manufacturing knowledge with team leadership and operational coordination. The role involves supervising production staff, collaborating with multiple departments, analyzing production data, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations across multiple production lines and ensure adherence to production schedules.
- Supervise and support production supervisors, technicians, and operators to ensure strong performance and team development.
- Coordinate with production control, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve operational issues and maintain production flow.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data analysis to drive operational improvements.
- Support planning of manufacturing activities to minimize downtime and meet delivery targets.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures to maintain consistency across shifts.
- Contribute to departmental budgeting, staffing, and resource planning.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, efficiency, and cost savings.
- Promote workplace safety, 5S standards, and adherence to quality management systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5–7 years of manufacturing experience, preferably within injection molding or automotive manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, and tooling.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a production environment.
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing and automation processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, charts, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Work Environment
- Frequent interaction with production equipment and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to move throughout production areas regularly.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Work environment includes moderate to high industrial noise levels with required PPE in designated areas.
