The Floor Manager (Closing) is responsible for overseeing daily operations during the afternoon and evening hours, ensuring the center remains safe, organized, and in compliance with licensing regulations until close. This role provides leadership and support to classroom staff, assists with ratios and transitions, communicates with families at pickup, and ensures the facility is properly secured at the end of the day.
Job Summary
The Closing Floor Manager at North Creek Child Development Center is a dynamic leadership role dedicated to ensuring the smooth and efficient closing operations of the center’s daily activities. Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Supervise center operations during closing hours
- Ensure classrooms are appropriately staffed and within state licensing ratios
- Assist with classroom coverage, breaks, and end-of-day transitions
- Monitor and support staff performance and professionalism
Child & Family Care
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all children
- Support teachers with behavior management and classroom needs
- Greet families and manage end-of-day communication at pickup
- Address parent questions or concerns professionally and escalate when necessary
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to state licensing regulations and center policies
- Conduct closing safety checks of classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas
- Confirm all children have been signed out properly
- Document incidents, accidents, or unusual occurrences as required
Closing Duties
- Ensure classrooms are cleaned, organized, and prepared for the next day
- Verify completion of daily cleaning and sanitizing tasks
- Secure the building by locking doors, setting alarms, and shutting down equipment
- Complete closing checklists and reports for administration
Team Leadership
- Act as the point of contact for staff during the closing shift
- Provide guidance, direction, and support to teachers and aides
- Communicate important updates to leadership for the following day
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Early Childhood Education coursework preferred)
- Previous experience in a childcare or early childhood setting required
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of childcare licensing regulations
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional in a fast-paced environment

- Strong background in health & safety protocols related to food handling, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with experience in staff training & development, interviewing, and performance management.
