Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Broker to join our team. The Benefits Broker will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them design, implement, and manage competitive employee benefits programs. This role requires a deep understanding of the insurance marketplace, strong client relationship skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect, develop, and maintain relationships with employer clients across various industries and sizes
- Analyze clients' workforce demographics and benefits needs to recommend tailored insurance solutions (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, supplemental, etc.)
- Negotiate with insurance carriers to obtain competitive quotes and favorable plan terms
- Present benefits proposals and renewals to HR leaders, CFOs, and executive stakeholders
- Guide clients through open enrollment planning, employee communications, and carrier implementation
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA) and advise clients on compliance requirements
- Collaborate with internal account management and administration teams to ensure seamless client service
- Maintain accurate client records and pipeline activity in CRM systems
- Meet or exceed annual new business production and retention goals
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in employee benefits brokerage, consulting, or related insurance sales
- President's Club achiever for at least 3 of the last 5 years (required)
- Active Life & Health insurance license (required)
- Strong knowledge of fully-insured, level-funded, and self-funded plan structures
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Proficiency with benefits administration platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Professional designations (GBA, CEBS, RHU) a plus
