POSITION: Vice President of HR
LOCATION: Remote
Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, including role definition, headcount prioritization, level stratification, and compensation strategy.
- Build the policy/documentation framework: employee handbook, job architecture, comp bands, performance review cadence, and PIP process
- Own/optimize the HRIS technology (HRIS, ATS, onboarding, benefits, etc), selecting, implementing, and maintaining systems that scale with growth
- Design an onboarding experience that embeds culture and accelerates ramp; ensure multi-state compliance for a distributed workforce
- Exemplify an automation mindset by building self-service workflows, eliminating manual repetition, and documenting systems
- Lead engagement, internal communications, and culture programming, including quarterly off-sites, using data
- Lead the review and application of employment agreements when applicable
- Own recruiting infrastructure including the ATS configuration, interview loop design, scorecards, offer frameworks, and employer brand positioning
- Manage and develop a talent acquisition professional who runs day-to-day sourcing, interviewing, and coordination across Engineering, Product, and GTM.
- Calibrate interviewers, close executive-level candidates, and ensure quality and consistency across all pipelines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and sensitive situations and handle them directly
- Partner with managers on performance conversations, coaching, and team dynamics prior to escalation
- Run 1:1s, exit interviews, and maintain data to keep leadership informed
- Be the individual employees trust to listen first and act with discretion
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 8 years in human resources with experience in startups being preferred
- Prior experience managing or mentoring coordinators
- Previous experience in selecting/implementing HRIS, ATS tooling from scratch
- Previous examples of self-directed workflow automation (using/creating automation tools) or self-service systems
- Strong operational and program management discipline
- Sufficient experience with or comfort around talent acquisition to set the bar, close executive candidates, and coach a team
- Excellent communicator comfortable writing policy, presenting to leadership, and representing the company externally
- Genuine care for people while being decisive
