Job Title: Senior Power BI Data Architect

Job Location: Hybrid – Washington, DC

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Power BI Data Architect to design and implement enterprise-scale analytics solutions. This role will play a critical part in shaping the organization’s data and analytics strategy by delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing Power BI self-service datasets built on Azure Databricks Lakehouse architecture with strong governance through Unity Catalog. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder collaboration and leadership skills.

Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities:

• Architect, design, and develop scalable, enterprise-grade data models and self-service datasets for Power BI analytics.
• Work extensively with Azure Databricks Lakehouse to ingest, transform, and prepare large and complex datasets for analytics consumption.
• Implement and manage data governance, access controls, and security policies using Unity Catalog.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand analytical requirements and translate them into effective BI and reporting solutions.
• Ensure optimal Power BI report and dataset performance through efficient data modeling, DAX optimization, and query tuning best practices.
• Establish and enforce standards, guidelines, and best practices for Power BI development across the organization.
• Lead initiatives around metadata management, data lineage, documentation, and data quality assurance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers and BI developers.
• Support enterprise reporting strategies, ensuring scalability, reliability, and consistency across analytics platforms.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• 7 years of experience in BI architecture and data engineering, with 12 years of overall IT experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and advanced data modeling techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks Lakehouse architecture and Unity Catalog.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data warehousing, analytics platforms, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Proven experience designing and managing large-scale self-service datasets for diverse business user communities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams in complex enterprise environments.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Power BI and analytics solutions.
• Knowledge of DataOps and modern BI deployment practices.
