Essential Job Duties
- Operates all material handling/moving equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, stock-pickers, buses, trucks, cars, etc., in connection with assigned duties such as:
- Transportation of material
- Loading and unloading of materials and containers
- Stacking and arranging material
- Stocking and storing containers
- Records, verifies, and maintains all necessary paperwork to accomplish job assignments.
- Packages, straps, and seals as needed and assigned.
- Ships, receives, and stores merchandise/material as required to accomplish job assignment.
- Operates computer systems to input and retrieve data as necessary to accomplish job assignments.
- May operate automated warehouse storage systems in connection with assigned duties, such as stocking, palletizing, and issuing materials.
- May perform inventories of equipment and materials.
- May perform bulk fueling operations.
- Performs assignments with a high degree of quality and efficiency exercising prescribed safety and security measures.
- Works harmoniously with co-workers, representatives of other departments/divisions, and outside agencies.
- Responsible for housekeeping and cleanliness of assigned area and equipment.
- Maintains necessary forms and records essential to accomplishing assigned responsibilities.
- Responsible for ensuring no unauthorized operations are performed.
- Responsible for care and protection of assigned material and equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring materials are transported and vehicles are operated in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and other applicable governing documentation (i.e., Department of Energy (DOE) Order, Plant procedures, work instructions, etc.).
- Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and plant wide operating policies and procedures.
- Attends and/or successfully completes training classes as determined by the Organizational Development and Training Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and management.
- Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
- Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized.
- Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
- Must meet initial employment requirements.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
- Must be physically fit to perform job functions as determined by medical evaluation.
- All qualifications, work history, training, and education will be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
- Must have relevant experience operating a forklift. This experience can be gained from the following sources:
- Recent work experience, within the last five years, which included assignments involving forklift operation as a significant part of the job, OR
- Successful completion, within the last two years of an accredited forklift training course pursuant to the requirements set forth in 29 CFR 1910.178, Powered industrial trucks.
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsements and have an acceptable driving record as determined by management after reviewing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Must pass a DOT physical administered by Pantex Operational Health Services (OHS).
- May be required to obtain other endorsements as specified by the work group.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience (as related to area assigned) or equivalent education and/or training.
- Must demonstrate ability to handle and dock in close quarters heavy duty tractors with 40-foot van-type trailers. Ability established by a practical driving demonstration on Plant premises.

Education
- High School diploma or (GED) General Equivalency Development
DOE Order 426.2 Requirements
- In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., High School diploma, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2)

- Normal far vision in at least one eye correctable to 20/40 (20 feet)
- Near vision (must be able to read computer screen, manuscript, book etc, at approximately 13-16 inches from the face)
- Depth perception (ability to tell how close or far an object is)
- Good hearing
- No evidence of current drug or alcohol abuse
- Ability to use small tools
- Ability to perform safety-sensitive duties

Requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
