We're looking for a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Front Office Medical Assistant who enjoys interacting with patients while balancing both administrative and clinical responsibilities. What You'll Do

As a Front Office Medical Assistant, you'll play an essential role in delivering outstanding patient care by supporting both the front office and clinical team.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors with professionalism, warmth, and exceptional customer service.
  • Register patients and verify demographics, insurance coverage, referrals, authorizations, and required documentation.
  • Scan and maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Explain privacy policies and ensure all required documentation is completed.
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments according to office protocols.
  • Collect co-pays, outstanding balances, and reconcile daily payment batches.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, assist patients, and route calls appropriately.
  • Communicate appointment delays and help ensure patients remain informed and comfortable.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception and waiting area.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories and documenting relevant information.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician.
  • Perform basic laboratory testing, EKGs, suture removal, and dressing changes as ordered.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, diet, and treatment plans.
  • Process prescription refill requests as directed by the provider.
  • Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies.
  • Support providers with daily patient care and clinical workflow.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program (in accordance with state requirements).
  • Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
  • One or more years of Medical Assistant experience in a physician practice or outpatient setting.
  • Experience with athenaClinicals or a comparable electronic health record system.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and front office workflows.
  • Experience performing basic clinical procedures, including EKGs, laboratory testing, and medication administration.
