About the Opportunity

A well-established legal organization is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing foreclosure and real estate practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in real estate law, title review, title clearance, and non-judicial foreclosure who is looking for a role offering flexibility and the opportunity to manage a meaningful caseload.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, detail-oriented attorney who can independently evaluate title and foreclosure matters, identify potential issues, develop solutions, and communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.

This position is not intended for new graduates or recently licensed attorneys.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review title examinations within established turnaround times and identify title defects or other issues requiring resolution.
  • Develop and execute recommendations for curing both routine and complex title issues.
  • Review pleadings, loan documents, foreclosure documents, and related legal materials for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide legal analysis and opinions regarding file-level title and foreclosure issues.
  • Review and manage documentation associated with the non-judicial foreclosure process.
  • Independently manage and advance a portfolio of assigned matters.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, insurers, vendors, attorneys, clerks, and other outside parties.
  • Prepare, review, and edit legal opinions, correspondence, reports, pleadings, and other documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable state and local laws, regulations, and title standards.
  • Navigate jurisdiction-specific requirements and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates within case and client management systems.
  • Exercise sound independent judgment when evaluating legal and compliance issues.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, vendors, attorneys, and internal teams.
  • Assist with other legal and departmental responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Alabama Bar license and membership in good standing required.
  • Minimum 2 years of legal practice experience.
  • Experience in real estate law, title examination, title clearance/curative work, or foreclosure required.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Familiarity with Alabama title standards preferred.
  • Additional bar admission in Georgia, Texas, or Mississippi is highly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work professionally with clients, opposing parties, attorneys, vendors, and court personnel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet-based legal research.
  • Familiarity with case/document management systems and client platforms preferred, including BKFS, Tempo, or similar systems.
What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who takes ownership of their work, can effectively prioritize competing deadlines, and is comfortable making independent legal decisions. Strong client service skills and the ability to collaborate with attorneys and support staff are essential.

This role is well suited for an attorney who enjoys a combination of legal analysis, title work, foreclosure, client interaction, and independent case management.

Work Arrangement

The position is available on a hybrid basis in Birmingham, Alabama, or remotely, depending on experience and geographic location. Remote employees may be required to participate in initial and periodic in-person training.

Occasional out-of-state travel may be required.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Hybrid or remote flexibility
  • Opportunity to work with an established legal team
  • Significant autonomy and ownership of assigned matters
  • Exposure to real estate, title, and foreclosure matters
  • Collaborative professional environment
  • Opportunity to build strong relationships with institutional clients and industry partners

Interested? If you are an Alabama-licensed attorney with 2 years of relevant real estate, title, or foreclosure experience, we'd love to connect and discuss the opportunity confidentially.
