As a PRN Ambulance Driver, you play a critical frontline role in that mission by supporting our emergency medical team and ensuring safe, reliable transportation for patients during emergency and non-emergency situations.

In this role, you will operate the ambulance in a safe and responsible manner, follow established department and medical director protocols, and provide support during out-of-hospital care appropriate to each patient’s age and condition. You’ll communicate effectively with patients and families, maintain confidentiality, help resolve customer concerns, and collaborate closely with ambulance staff to ensure high-quality care. Your responsibilities will also include completing required documentation, cleaning and restocking equipment, staying in designated areas while on call, attending department meetings, and participating in ongoing quality improvement efforts. Your commitment to professionalism, safety, and patient comfort will directly support the success of our EMS team.

To excel in this position, you must hold a high school diploma or GED (or be a current high school student), maintain Healthcare Provider CPR certification, and hold a valid Iowa driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in fast-paced or emotionally charged situations are essential. This role also requires comfort working independently, interacting frequently with the public, and following hospital and EMS policies, procedures, and compliance expectations.
