What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse - Inpatient Services position at PALO ALTO COUNTY HEALTH SYSTEM?
Our Registered Staff Nurses play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient-centered care at PACHS. As an RN, you will coordinate nursing care, support patient and family education, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to uphold high standards of professional nursing practice. You will help create a safe, healing, and supportive environment for patients and their families.
In this role, you will assess patient conditions, develop and implement nursing care plans, and evaluate outcomes to ensure individualized, effective care. You will administer medications and treatments, respond promptly to changes in condition, assist providers during procedures, and ensure accurate and timely documentation. You will advocate for patients and families, participate in discharge planning, and maintain strong interdisciplinary communication.
Your responsibilities include coordinating care with other departments, supporting the orientation of new team members, participating in quality-improvement initiatives, and assisting colleagues with patient care when needed. You will respond effectively in emergencies, practice responsible supply management, uphold organizational and regulatory standards, and participate in ongoing education and competency training. You will also adapt to changes in technology and workflow, maintaining required system access.
This role requires strong communication skills, critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to both lead and collaborate within a team. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program, hold a current Iowa RN license, and maintain required certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Additional specialty training is required for areas such as OB or Telemetry. Flexibility in scheduling and basic computer skills are essential.
