Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a friendly and efficient check-in process
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software and coordinate patient flow
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle medical billing using systems such as OpenDental
- Manage patient records with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and review of care plans for accuracy and completeness
- Handle phone communication with patients, insurance companies, and vendors with excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and electronic health records (EHR), ensuring easy retrieval and security
- Assist in financial presentation and patient care coordination
Experience
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with front desk operations in a healthcare setting
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as OpenDental
- Knowledge of health insurance procedures and medical billing practices
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Experience with medical administrative support tasks like filing, typing (including 10 key typing), and office management is desirable
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with patients over the phone and in person while maintaining professionalism at all times
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to clinical documentation standards
