This is a Temporary position, Bilingual in Spanish is a MUST.
Contract can range from 4-9 months
The Patient Financial Services Representative is responsible for assisting patients with billing inquiries, collecting and updating insurance and demographic information, verifying coverage, and ensuring accurate and timely claim submission and payment. This role serves as a key liaison between patients, insurance carriers, and the billing department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact patients to collect and verify current insurance information if provided.
- Review patient accounts to ensure accuracy of insurance, personal, and financial data.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits through online portals or by phone when needed.
- Inform patients of their financial responsibilities, including deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, and payment options.
- Follow up with patients on outstanding balances and provide payment plans when applicable.
- Respond to patient billing inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.
- Maintain accurate records in electronic health record (EHR) and billing systems.
- Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned related to the revenue cycle process.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or certification in healthcare administration or billing preferred.
- Familiarity with Intergy and billing systems; Phreesia is a plus.
- 1–2 years of experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or patient account services.
- Knowledge of insurance plans (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and billing procedures.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
