Charges and discharges library materials to the public; registers borrowers; receives payment for overdue materials; resolves inquiries/complaints concerning the circulation of materials; shelves and retrieves library materials. Processes library materials and links them to a computerized database; advises the public of materials to meet reading needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of six (6) months of experience in library/general clerical work that involves extensive public contact OR 12-semester/18-quarter hours of college-level coursework (must specify on application).
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Assisting the public or providing customer service; working in a library/bookstore/retail; cash handling (must specify on application). Also desirable: Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
