What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Medical Assistant position at Pain and Spine Consultants?
We're an established outpatient pain management practice looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Columbia team. This is a hands-on clinical role in a small, close-knit office where you'll work directly with our physician, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant.
If you've worked in pain management, you'll feel at home quickly. If you haven't, we'll train you — we care more about reliability, compassion, and attitude than a specific background.
The schedule
Monday through Thursday 7:45am- 5:00pm and 7:45am - 1:30pm on Fridays.
What you'll do
- Room patients and take vitals
- Prepare patients and rooms for in-office procedures
- Collect specimens, including urine drug screens
- Enter patient information accurately into our EMR
- Manage charts, paperwork, and incoming faxes
- Keep exam and procedure rooms clean and stocked
- Order and track medical supplies
- Work with the front office to keep patient flow moving
What we require
- Active national MA certification: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), or NCMA (NCCT)
- Current BLS/CPR certification [or: or willingness to obtain within 30 days]
- Comfort in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Strong attention to detail, especially with documentation
- Dependability — a small team feels every absence
What we'd love to see
- Pain management or interventional spine experience
- Experience assisting with fluoroscopy-guided procedures
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (ECW)
