Job description
PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is hiring Construction Inspectors to support Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division. You'll work across multiple active projects within LAWA's Tenant Improvement Program, focused on building disciplines at LAX.
What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections across building and terminal construction projects — ensuring compliance with approved plans, project specifications, LA City Building Code, ADA requirements, and LAWA-specific standards
- Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Prepare detailed daily inspection reports capturing the Who / What / When / Where / How of observed activity — flag issues, deficiencies, and safety concerns in real time
- Verify contractor compliance with jurisdictional requirements and LAWA standards
- Support special inspections and testing; coordinate with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies
- Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities; validate contractor progress payments against schedule of values
Inspection scope includes: clearing/grubbing/demolition, excavation and trenching, shoring, grade and elevation survey, structural backfill and compaction, structural and nonstructural concrete, formwork/footings/micro piles, sewer and storm drain, metal stud framing, drywall, interior finishes, doors and hardware, T-bar ceilings and fire-rated assemblies.
Minimum requirements
- 5 years of construction inspection experience
- Demonstrated ability to interpret LA City Building Code and ADA requirements
- Cal OSHA 30-hour certification
- Fall protection / harness training
- Confined space awareness certification
- Ability to pass a federal background check and obtain a LAWA SIDA badge before start
- Physical ability to walk long distances across expansive terminals, climb stairs, ladders, scaffold, and crawl into inspection areas
- Open to day, swing, modified, or night shifts including weekends
Preferred
- ICC certifications and Deputy Inspector Licenses
- NFPA 70E (required if electrical inspection scope)
- Experience inspecting airport or large-scale public building facilities — steel and concrete structures, architectural finishes, terminal operations
- Proficiency with PMWeb, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Salary : $140,000 - $155,000
