Job description
PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is hiring an Assistant Program Safety Manager II to support LAWA's construction safety program under our MATOC contract at Los Angeles International Airport.
You'll partner directly with contractor safety teams, LAWA Inspection, Project Management, and program leadership to ensure assigned projects implement effective safety programs and meet contract requirements for safety and security.
What you'll do
- Walk assigned projects regularly β often multiple times daily, totaling several miles across expansive terminal construction sites
- Engage the LAWA ADG Safety platform to perform Task Hazard Analysis (THA) audits and log safety observations
- Review Contractor Safety Plans and verify field performance and compliance on an ongoing basis
- Verify contractor documentation: weekly toolbox talks, new employee orientation, daily safety inspection reports, accident/incident and investigation reports, competent person documentation, training records, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Attend Project Progress and Project Safety Committee meetings; participate in the Construction Safety Advisory Council and Monthly All-Hands Safety Meetings
- Promote the behavior-based ADG Safety Program internally and externally (National Safety Council, trade organizations)
- Write clear, effective reports with photo documentation; escalate concerns as needed
Minimum requirements (MATOC)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active BCSP Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or better (CSP, ASP also acceptable)
- 5 years of vertical, tunnel, or heavy civil construction experience
- Ability to obtain Cal OSHA authorized instructor status within 6 months of hire
- Ability to pass a federal background check and obtain a LAWA Badge with RACCI, Customs, and Driver icons
- Personal vehicle capable of accessing the AOA (Airport Operations Area)
Preferred
- Supervisory experience of other safety professionals
- Bilingual (Spanish a strong plus)
- CPR / First Aid instructor qualification
- Proficiency with PMWeb, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and PowerPoint
Schedule
May be assigned night shift; may be required to start a regular shift at any time of day or night; may be required to work weekends and additional hours as project demands.
Salary : $170,000 - $185,000
