Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and audit structural inspection reports and QC documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Conduct witness inspections of contractor repair work—concrete patching, steel repairs, grouting—to verify compliance with drawings and specifications
- Maintain and update QC checklists, punch-lists, and NCR (non-conformance report) logs in WMATA’s document-control system
- Coordinate re-inspections where work does not meet acceptance criteria and track corrective-action closure
- Prepare QC summary reports and present findings to WMATA’s Track & Structures leadership
- Mentor field inspectors on QC best practices and standardized reporting
- Bachelor’s in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 5 years’ experience in structural-inspection quality control on transit or heavy-civil projects
- Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, ASTM, and WMATA structural standards
- Strong report-writing skills and proficiency with QC documentation systems
- Excellent observational abilities and ability to enforce corrective measures
