Job Overview
The Residence Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of a residential care facility, ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for all residents. This position requires strong leadership skills, compassion, and the ability to manage a team while providing high-quality care to individuals with various needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, and other health challenges.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of staff to ensure compliance with care plans and facility policies.
- Provide direct support to residents, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor residents' health and well-being through patient observation and vital signs assessment.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medication administration records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the residence by overseeing cleaning tasks and maintaining a hygienic environment.
- Facilitate communication between residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Assist in training staff on best practices for caregiving, including CPR and first aid procedures.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Handle heavy lifting when required for resident mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in group homes or assisted living settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Strong understanding of caregiving principles including meal preparation, cleaning tasks, patient monitoring, and vital signs assessment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents and their families.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in nursing or social work are a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with caregiving including heavy lifting when necessary. The Residence Manager position is essential for fostering a caring community where residents feel valued and supported in their daily lives.
