Job Summary:

The Resident Manager oversees the daily operations of the adult family home and ensures quality care and a safe, home-like environment for residents. This role includes supervising staff, ensuring compliance with state regulations, coordinating care, and assisting with hands-on caregiving as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Resident Care:

  • Monitor resident health, behaviors, and well-being
  • Ensure residents receive care according to their individual service plans
  • Assist with ADLs (as needed), including bathing, grooming, medication assistance, and mobility
  • Communicate changes in condition to healthcare providers and family members
  • Support resident rights, dignity, independence, and quality of life

Staff Supervision & Training:

  • Supervise HCAs/CNAs and other care staff
  • Assign duties and ensure tasks are completed
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship
  • Monitor performance and report concerns to the AFH provider

Operations & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with WAC regulations, licensing standards, and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation (MARs, progress notes, incident reports, etc.)
  • Oversee inventory of medications, supplies, and groceries
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and quality assurance activities

Communication & Coordination:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families and healthcare professionals
  • Schedule and coordinate medical appointments, transportation, and services
  • Ensure smooth communication between shifts and with the home provider

Qualifications:

  • HCA or CNA license (Required)
  • Nurse Delegation certification (Required or willingness to obtain)
  • CPR/First Aid certification (Required)
  • At least 1 year of caregiving experience in an AFH or similar setting
  • Experience supervising or training care staff (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of WAC requirements for adult family homes
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations

Work Environment:

  • Small residential setting with up to six residents
  • Must be available for emergencies and flexible scheduling (weekends/holidays)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and assist residents (up to 50 lbs)
  • Standing, walking, and physical activity for extended periods

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 60 per week
