Schedule: 1st Shift (Start time between 5:00 AM – 8:00 AM for an 8-hour shift; Overtime as needed)

Skills Required

Primary (Must-Have)

  • Laboratory experience in a manufacturing, chemical, or quality control environment.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline).
  • Experience performing Quality Control (QC) laboratory testing.
  • Ability to accurately document laboratory results and maintain testing records.
  • Experience using laboratory testing equipment such as Viscometer, Softening Point apparatus, Gardner equipment, or similar instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and Food Safety standards.
  • Experience with sample preparation, handling, and laboratory housekeeping.
  • Ability to follow laboratory procedures, SOPs, and safety protocols.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Secondary (Good to Have)

  • Experience working with SAP for quality data entry and material release.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis including SPC, Control Charts, Cp, Cpk, and Standard Deviation.
  • Experience managing Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Experience performing laboratory equipment calibration and certification.
  • Experience supporting Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in adhesive, chemical, food, or manufacturing industries.



Position Overview

The Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Quality Manager and is responsible for performing Quality Control laboratory testing to ensure products meet established quality specifications. This position supports manufacturing operations by conducting laboratory analysis, documenting accurate results, maintaining testing equipment, and ensuring timely release of production materials.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working in a fast-paced laboratory environment while maintaining data integrity and compliance with GMP, HACCP, and quality management requirements.



Roles & Responsibilities

Quality Control Testing

  • Perform Quality Control testing according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Conduct testing using laboratory equipment including Viscometer, Softening Point, Gardner, and related instruments.
  • Prepare, label, and manage laboratory samples.
  • Prioritize testing activities based on production schedules, customer requirements, and R&D needs.
  • Ensure testing is completed within required quality control timelines.


Data Management & Documentation

  • Accurately document laboratory testing results.
  • Enter QC data into SAP and other quality management systems.
  • Review production data and prepare quality reports.
  • Verify testing accuracy to ensure only specification-compliant materials are released.
  • Maintain complete laboratory documentation and testing records.


Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Support the Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR) process through documentation, investigation, assignment, and closure.
  • Report out-of-specification materials and process deviations to management promptly.
  • Participate in HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety programs.
  • Conduct GMP inspections and Glass Inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and quality standards.


Laboratory Operations

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization following good housekeeping practices.
  • Complete laboratory equipment calibration, certification, and pre-use verification.
  • Assist with plant equipment calibration activities.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and testing equipment.
  • Perform additional laboratory and quality-related duties as assigned.


Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow OSHA, EPA, and company Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Practice safe laboratory procedures at all times.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Attend HACCP, GMP, Food Safety, and Quality meetings.
  • Support initiatives that improve laboratory efficiency and product quality.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Laboratory experience in Quality Control or a related laboratory environment.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Experience documenting laboratory results and maintaining quality records.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using SAP for Quality Control data management.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety programs.
  • Experience with NCMR processes.
  • Basic understanding of statistical quality tools including SPC, Control Charts, Cp, and Cpk.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment calibration and certification.
  • Manufacturing or chemical industry laboratory experience.


Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant laboratory supporting production quality operations.
  • Time-sensitive laboratory environment requiring accurate testing and documentation.
  • Frequent interaction with Quality, Production, R&D, and Operations teams.
  • Safety-focused environment requiring strict adherence to laboratory procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Occasional overtime required to meet production and quality demands.
