The Director of Marketing Communications leads and executes integrated marketing and communications strategies for the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace University in support of institutional reputation, academic distinction, and strategic priorities. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Academic Marketing Communications, with a dotted line to the Dean of Dyson College, the Director serves as the primary marketing and communications partner to the dean and college leadership, providing strategic counsel and day-to-day execution across channels.

This role translates Dyson College’s academic vision, interdisciplinary strengths, and scholarly priorities into actionable marketing and communications plans that align with university-wide brand standards, messaging, and reputational objectives. The Director collaborates closely with University Relations (UR) functional teams—including design, web strategy, social media, marketing, brand experience, and public affairs—to ensure high-quality, consistent, and effective outcomes that elevate the visibility and impact of the liberal arts and sciences at Pace.


Position Duties

  • Partner with the Dean and Dyson College leadership to develop and implement an annual strategic marketing and communications plan aligned with university priorities and Dyson’s academic and reputational goals. Serve as a strategic advisor to the Dean on marketing and communications opportunities, risks, and emerging trends relevant to the liberal arts and sciences.
  • Contribute to college- and university-level initiatives related to academic reputation, rankings, research visibility, faculty scholarship, student success, and program differentiation across the arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of integrated marketing and communications initiatives across digital, print, web, social media, email, events, and earned media. Project-manage and collaborate with UR functional teams to scope projects, manage timelines, and prioritize resources in accordance with established service-level agreements. Track and report progress against marketing and communications goals, KPIs, and timelines to the AVP and Dyson College leadership.
  • Ensure consistent application of Pace University’s brand, voice, and messaging standards while reflecting Dyson College’s distinctive intellectual identity and academic breadth.
  • Guide the development of compelling content that highlights Dyson College’s academic excellence, faculty research and creative activity, student outcomes, experiential learning, and alumni impact.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for faculty thought leadership, expert commentary, and media placement.
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency of Dyson College messaging across all platforms.
  • Lead internal and executive communications for Dyson College, serving as a strategic advisor and principal writer for the Dean. Develop and deliver clear, timely, and consistent messaging to faculty and staff that supports college priorities, shared governance, and institutional alignment. Draft executive communications, presentations, and talking points, and advise on messaging and event programming for sensitive or high-impact issues.
  • Ensure alignment of college-level internal communications with university-wide messaging and standards.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with faculty, administrators, and staff across Dyson College departments and throughout its campuses in New York City and Pleasantville.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Dyson College and enrollment, philanthropic, and alumni affairs marketing teams.
  • Contribute to the planning of events, lectures, symposia, and commencement activities.
  • Model best practices in higher education, marketing and communications, with particular attention to the liberal arts and sciences, and stay current on industry trends and innovations. Participate in professional development and contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field. Master’s degree in a related field.
  • At least seven years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or related fields; higher education experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic marketing and communications plans.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and diverse academic stakeholders.
  • Experience in a complex, matrixed organization, preferred.
  • Familiarity with higher education reputational drivers, rankings, faculty scholarship, and academic brand positioning, particularly within the liberal arts and sciences, preferred
  • Strong project management, writing, and editorial skills.

Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed.
