Design Engineer I

Position Overview:

This role is expected to multi-task between several projects, working closely with a Project Engineer to determine daily tasks and priorities which support engineering and product deliverables.

Essential Functions:

• Create Engineering Change Requests to document required changes against existing products
• Product design using Creo
• Revise engineering drawings as required to maintain legacy product data
• Support configuration changes based on new sales to customers
• Support builds on the production floor
• Support internal and external technical help requests
• Conceptual design of new products and ideas to improve existing product
• Prototype construction and testing
• Materials/parts research and selection for use in product designs
• Create drawing packages
• Create and validate new designs (modeling/analyzing/drafting/BOM creation)
• Mark up drawings and create redlines for engineering incorporation
• Interpret and apply geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
• Support development and qualification testing
• Track and report project progress to management
• Work within FAA TSO Minor Change Agreement to maintain existing legacy product data
• Manage components of R&D projects
• Create and present concepts/products to internal and external customers
• Technical presentations to internal and external customers

Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask
• Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
• Excellent teamwork skills and a high degree of initiative required
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal
• Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
• Must be proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience in Creo and Windchill
• Proficient with 3-D modeling and 2-D drafting
• Proficient with ASME Y14 drafting and design standards
• Working knowledge of FAA Certification Practices

Education, Certifications and Experience:

• AA/AS degree, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent experience
• 0-3 years’ experience in engineering or related industry, aerospace preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
• All employees are expected to adhere to Company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when exposed to work areas or performing tasks where it is required.
