Position Overview:
The Certification Engineer is responsible for developing and executing certification programs to demonstrate compliance to regulatory and OEM requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Develop certification test plans and reports ensuring compliance to regulatory and OEM requirements
- Communicate with project team members to identify scope of work, schedule, design details, quotes, risks, and other pertinent factors impacting certification
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Reviews and approves design changes from a certification perspective
- Oversee and assist as necessary with test article build and conformity
- Compiles FAA certification documentation for submission to regulatory agencies and completion centers/ODA
- Hands-on working in a test lab performing static tests and supporting external test labs with dynamic crash testing of aircraft seats
- Supports design optimization tasks
- Prepares documentation for assigned projects to include certification documents, correspondence as well as planning and writing minutes of meetings between Company and Aviation Authorities
- Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints
- May represent the company in meetings with government authorities as well as taking part in international working groups and committees
- Interpreting airworthiness requirements and advising appropriate departments in all matters related to airworthiness and certification
- 100% onsite; however, may require some travel to support external testing
- Maintain a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products
- Work extended or irregular hours as required
Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask
- Exceptional organization skills, self-motivation, a sense of urgency with strong attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal
- Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
- Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience in Creo/Pro-E and AutoCAD
- Gain exposure FAA or Military Aircraft Certification Practices
- Strong Engineering Mechanics knowledge would be a plus
- Knowledge of classical hand calculation to obtain interface loads and to be able to understand stress calculations/FEM analysis
Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred
- 0-2 years of engineering experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
- All employees are expected to adhere to Company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when exposed to work areas or performing tasks where it is required.
