Sr. Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis
Position Overview
The Sr. Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will lead the company’s financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis functions across its core business lines at a vertically integrated aggregates business. This role serves as a strategic finance partner to executive leadership and operational management, delivering actionable insights that drive profitability, capital allocation, and operational efficiency. The position requires a strong understanding of construction materials operations, project based accounting, cost structures, and capital-intensive businesses, along with the ability to translate financial data into strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
- Develop and maintain financial models supporting revenue forecasting, margin analysis, and capital investment decisions.
- Analyze performance against budget and forecast, providing clear variance explanations and corrective action recommendations.
- Partner with operations leadership to develop accurate production, sales, and cost forecasts across all business lines.
- Partner with operations to align capital planning, operating forecasts, and financial reporting
Financial Reporting & Performance Management
- Manage and enhance monthly management reporting packages for executive leadership.
- Track key performance indicators including: Production volumes, Plant utilization, Gross margin by product line, Product profitability, Inventory turnover & year-end valuation, Fleet & equipment utilization, Construction project profitability & budget performance
- Drive improvements in financial reporting processes and analytics tools.
Business & Operational Analysis
- Analyze aggregates production costs, ready-mix margins, asphalt plant performance, and construction project profitability.
- Support pricing strategies through margin analysis and market data evaluation.
- Identify operational efficiencies and cost improvement opportunities across materials production and construction operations.
- Deliver financial insights on plant performance, production costs, job profitability, and asset utilization.
- Advance data-driven decision-making through improved analysis tools that improve speed, accuracy, transparency, and consistency in financial data (e.g. Spreadsheet Server)
Strategic Decision Support
- Provide financial analysis to support capital investments, plant expansions, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
- Partner with leadership on capital expenditure planning, including ROI and payback analysis.
- Evaluate potential growth opportunities within construction materials and infrastructure markets.
- Drive scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis related to capital investments, volume growth, pricing, and cost inflation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
- 7–10 years of progressive FP&A, cost accounting, and operations finance
- Demonstrated responsibility for annual budgeting process, monthly financial forecasting, monthly business line reporting, and capital expenditures reporting
- Experience in aggregates, construction materials, mining, manufacturing, or asset-intensive industries preferred
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Experience with ERP (Vista by Trimble strongly preferred), BI tools, and planning tools
- Ability to partner effectively with operations and senior leadership in a fast-paced environment
Salary : $140,000 - $150,000
