Accounting Manager
Position: Full-time
Location: Oakland, CA (on-site)
Expected Start Date: ASAP 2026
Expected compensation range: $100,000-$120,000 (not including bonuses, equity, etc.)

oWOW is a vertically integrated organization (construction, architecture, manufacturing & development) that accelerates housing abundance by delivering high-quality homes up to 65% below market cost in months, not years. We’re currently scaling our operations across California, with a goal of breaking ground on 2,000 units by the end of 2026.

Our next project is scheduled to begin in March, followed by another in May and October.
What You’ll Do
1. Month-End Close & General Ledger
- Drive a tight 10-business-day close across multiple entities and SPVs.
- Oversee journal entries, accruals, inter-company eliminations, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Consolidate financials across entities and maintain our chart of accounts.
- Manage fixed assets, construction-in-progress transfers, and depreciation schedules.
2. Lead Project & Job-Cost Accounting
- Set up new projects with budgets and cost codes; track the full lifecycle from commitment through completion.
- Ensure clean capitalization (soft vs. hard costs, interest cap, overhead allocation)
- Prepare monthly lender draw packages with all required backup documentation.
3. Manage Cash & Treasury Operations
- Oversee cash positioning, vendor payments, and banking operations
- Monitor debt covenants and coordinate capital calls and distributions
- Build and maintain monthly cash forecasts with department heads to drive smart treasury decisions.
4. Deliver Insights Through Reporting & Analytics
- Create monthly budget-vs-actual reports, KPI dashboards, and executive summaries with clear narratives.
- Prepare investor and lender reporting packages on schedule.
- Support board materials when needed.
5. Systems, Controls, and Process Improvement
- Administer accounting/ERP and job-cost systems; strengthen internal controls and documentation.
- Drive automation (imports, integrations, checklists) and standardize SOPs (standard operating procedures).
6. Team Leadership
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting staff; ensuring proper workload distribution and performance management.
About You
- 2 years of progressive accounting experience
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
- Comfortable meeting deadlines in a lean, fast-moving environment
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA
- 2 years in real estate development or construction accounting
- Prior public accounting firm experience strongly
- Proficiency with Yardi (or similar accounting software)
- Proficiency with Ramp (or similar expense management platform)
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering growth and development
