Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying and addressing hazards before they become issues.
- Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, ensuring corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs that educate employees at all levels.
- Create incentive programs that encourage and reward safety-conscious behavior.
- Stay ahead of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance at all times.
- Maintain meticulous safety records and documentation to track progress and identify improvement areas.
- Partner with management to integrate safety into daily operations and decision-making.
- Continuously update safety policies and procedures to reflect industry best practices and evolving regulations.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs with a focus on employee well-being and efficiency.
- Ensure the proper selection, maintenance, and use of safety equipment and PPE.
- Prepare and submit required reports and documentation for:
- BAAQMD Throughput Data Updates
- CERS Hazardous Material Business Plan Renewal
- DOORS e-ROAR Off-Road Fleet Update
- TRUCRS Fleet List
- EPA ID Number Renewal
- Operational Fire Permit
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field – or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5 years experience in safety and compliance management, ideally in the building materials or construction industry
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other workplace safety standards
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively train and motivate employees
- Proactive and accountable, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and safety management software
Desired, Not Required!
- Professional certifications (CSP, CHMM, or OSHA 30-Hour)
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Experience with environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
