Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to oversee the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) components of large-scale data center construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of MEP systems, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex schedules and budgets. You will be responsible for coordinating the installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems, ensuring projects meet design specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the MEP design, installation, and commissioning for data center construction projects.
- Coordinate with the general contractor, design teams, and subcontractors to ensure MEP work aligns with overall project goals and timelines.
- Manage and track the procurement of MEP equipment and materials.
- Monitor the progress of MEP system installations, ensuring they are in line with the project schedule and meet quality standards.
- Resolve technical issues that arise during construction and provide solutions to ensure minimal disruption to the schedule.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards for all MEP systems.
- Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs related to MEP components.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, and handover of MEP systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Collaborate with the project management team to integrate MEP work with other construction activities.
- Provide regular reports on MEP progress, performance metrics, and budget status to senior management and project stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP project management, ideally in data center or mission-critical environments.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC, power distribution, fire protection, and water systems.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale MEP installations and ensure they meet design and performance requirements.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage subcontractors and vendors.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with MEP design software, such as Revit, and project management tools like Procore and Bluebeam.
- Experience working in fast-paced, large-scale construction environments.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
Certifications:
- PMP or similar project management certification (preferred).
- LEED certification (a plus).
- OSHA 30 certification (required).
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position may operate in a combination of office, remote, and active construction site environments, depending on project assignment and business needs. Employees must be able to perform essential job functions safely and effectively in both professional and field conditions.
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain when on-site.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to travel to and between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
- Must be able to tolerate outdoor weather conditions and exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, and construction-related odors.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and other personnel while maintaining situational awareness in high-activity environments.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots are required when visiting or working on active construction sites.
- This role requires visual acuity sufficient to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.
