What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Proofreader - NORTH CAROLINA position at Overby Court Reporting Service?
Overby Court Reporting Service is seeking a proofreader. We cover all of North Carolina, but our main office is located in Raleigh. This position is remote and can be completed from anywhere in North Carolina. We are looking for a candidate that has good availability, can proofread more than 50 transcript pages per day, and does not have other work commitments that will interfere with meeting deadlines. Our ideal candidate is professional, articulate, detail-oriented, and is able to work autonomously.
Duties would include, but are not limited to:
- Identifying spelling, punctuation, and transcription errors based on auditory recordings of depositions
- Research spellings as needed for the transcriptions
- Prepare final copy of transcript with minimal or no spelling or grammatical errors
Qualifications and skills:
- Knowledge of grammatical rules
- Knowledge of medical and legal terminology
- Represent our company in a professional manner
- Highly dependable and organized
- Excellent attention to detail
- Highly adaptable
A bachelor’s degree in English or a strong grammatical background is preferred. Experience using transcription software, an transcription foot pedal, and WordPerfect would be beneficial. Candidates will be responsible for providing their own equipment. EOE
