Job Description
We are hiring an experienced Cabinet Shop Manager to oversee production operations, optimize shop workflows, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. This leadership role will ensure timely delivery, high-quality workmanship, and efficient resource utilization across the cabinet shop. The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing experience, proven leadership in a wood or cabinet shop environment, and a track record of driving operational performance.
What You Will Do
- Plan, coordinate, and prioritize daily cabinet production to meet delivery schedules and production targets.
- Monitor labor productivity, material usage, and job costs; recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and profitability.
- Collaborate with Sales, Scheduling, and Shop teams to align production capacity with project timelines and customer commitments.
- Maintain consistent quality standards through all production phases; establish and enforce quality checkpoints and acceptance criteria.
- Lead and develop production leads and shop personnel; provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Serve as an active member of the Safety/OSHA Compliance Committee and enforce safe working practices across the shop.
- Oversee facility and equipment operations; schedule preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Manage inventory control, shipping/receiving processes, and material flow within the shop.
- Prepare operational reports, production metrics, and budget documentation for senior leadership.
- Support incentive and recognition programs that reward productivity and craftsmanship.
What You Will Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in cabinetry production, woodworking, or related manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of cabinet construction methods, woodworking equipment, and shop workflows.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and proven commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and shop documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or production scheduling software preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred: experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
What You Will Experience
- Work daily in a cabinet shop and warehouse setting with exposure to noise, dust, and finishing materials.
- Regular computer work for scheduling, reporting, and communication combined with active floor presence to lead the team.
- Operation and oversight of power tools and heavy machinery; regular movement across the shop floor.
- Periods of standing or sitting for extended time frames; repetitive hand and wrist motions.
- Physical tasks including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs; required use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators).
