Position Summary
The Lean Manufacturing Specialist is responsible for driving hands-on implementation of Lean manufacturing initiatives within the plant. This role works directly on the shop floor to eliminate waste, improve process flow, standardize work, and support measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). The position partners cross-functionally to execute continuous improvement activities while fostering a culture of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lean Implementation & Execution
- Support deployment of Lean tools including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Management, A3, and PDCA.
- Facilitate and participate in Kaizen events and focused improvement activities.
- Conduct root-cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Develop and maintain standard work documentation and process controls.
Operational Improvement
- Identify waste in manufacturing processes and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze workflow, material movement, and production bottlenecks to improve efficiency.
- Support layout improvements and line balancing activities.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to sustain improvements.
Metrics & Performance Support
- Track KPIs aligned with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Assist in measuring project results, cost savings, and productivity improvements.
- Maintain visual management boards and performance dashboards.
- Participate in Gemba walks and follow up on action items.
Training & Employee Engagement
- Support training of operators and supervisors on Lean tools and daily management systems.
- Reinforce 5S standards, visual controls, and standardized work.
- Encourage employee involvement in continuous improvement activities.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure process documentation aligns with IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist during internal and external audits.
- Support adherence to plant and corporate continuous improvement standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of experience in Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean tools and problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience supporting Kaizen events and implementing measurable process improvements.
Preferred:
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
- Familiarity with stamping, forming, assembly, or automated production environments.
- Exposure to IATF 16949 standards and audit processes.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
