Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of innovative submersible sensor systems and mechanical solutions.
This position is part of the R&D team and will be on-site at one of Ott’s R&D Centers in Fort Collins.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $115,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. - Lead the design and development of mechanical systems from concept through production
- Design submersible sensor systems that must perform reliably over many years Partner with product, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to bring products to life
- Use engineering analysis (FEA, thermal, structural) to guide design decisions
- Anticipate risks and make smart trade-offs between performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Investigate real-world product issues and drive meaningful improvements
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture
We’re looking for engineers who are both technically strong and curious about the “why” behind decisions.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering
- Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., 3D modeling and 2D drawings)
- Ability to work on-site in Fort Collins
- Experience with SolidWorks / PDM
- Experience with mechanical testing (temperature, vibration, pressure, etc.)
- Experience designing molded and machined components
- Experience with submersible devices or water industry applications
- Lean manufacturing experience
