Reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering R&D, the Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a distributed team of mechanical engineers while ensuring robust design, testing, and development processes that support high‑quality, reliable products. This role plays a critical part in shaping product roadmaps, improving engineering processes, and delivering solutions that meet customer and business needs.
This position is part of the Research & Development organization and is located at one of Ott’s R&D Centers. The role is on‑site in Fort Collins.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. This role plays a critical part in shaping product roadmaps, improving engineering processes, and delivering solutions that meet customer and business needs.

- Lead, coach, and grow a team of mechanical engineers, helping them reach their full potential
- Partner closely with Product Management and UX to align on priorities and roadmaps
- Ensure strong, scalable design, development, and testing processes
- Drive improvements in engineering tools, PDM systems, and BOM processes
- Support project planning, resource allocation, and realistic effort estimation
- Participate in cross-functional reviews, including FMEA, risk analysis, and validation
- Identify team needs in terms of hiring, tools, and development
We’re looking for a leader who combines technical credibility with strong people leadership and a mindset of continuous improvement.
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of experience leading product design work as a mechanical engineer
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers (formal or informal leadership)
- Experience with reliability engineering, including designing validation and life testing
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Ability to work on-site in Fort Collins
