Otolaryngology Specialty Care

Our office has a physician, nurse practitioner, and an audiologist. We have office locations in Columbus, Greensburg, and Batesville, Indiana.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is primarily a referral specialist. Responsible for organizing incoming referrals, entering data into the practice management system, creating electronic charts, calling and scheduling patients. However, it will be necessary to also learn all front office duties (see below), to assist as needed.

· Greets patients

· Assist check in: Obtains/Update complete patient/guarantor demographics and insurance data.

· Answers the telephones: transfer calls, make appointments, and taking messages for the physician and clinical staff.

· Maintains control of patient/physician schedules

· Assist in Cancelling appointments at the request of surgery scheduler/clinical staff

· Assist in getting medical records from referring physicians needed at time of service or at the request of physician/clinical staff.

· Assist in getting referrals/authorization numbers from referring physicians as required by patient’s insurance payer.

· Assist in Checking out: Schedule return appointments, collect co-pays, payments, and discuss payment plans if needed.

· Assist in confirming the patient appointments

· Correct patient demographics on all returned mail by contacting the patient or patient representative.

· Assist in obtaining patient demographics and medical history from patient or patient representative. Information must be updated once every 12 months. Use HIPAA guidelines when retrieving the information from the patients.

· Assist all departments when help is needed.

· Maintain confidentiality of Patient Health Information (PHI)

· Maintains neat, orderly and cleanliness of work area and waiting reception area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Medical office: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Columbus, IN 47203: Relocate before starting work (Required)
