Position Overview
Osprey Software is seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Product Owner to join our consulting team and support the delivery of enterprise software solutions within the financial services and insurance industry. This individual will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders, compliance teams, and software engineering, ensuring business requirements are translated into clear, actionable user stories that enable efficient software delivery.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable facilitating business discussions, managing product backlogs, refining requirements, and partnering with development teams throughout the Agile software development lifecycle. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining alignment across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders, Product Managers, Compliance teams, and engineering to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into well-defined user stories with detailed acceptance criteria.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with Product Management and key business stakeholders.
- Facilitate backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning, and ongoing requirements clarification with development teams.
- Ensure requirements are development-ready and aligned with business objectives before entering the sprint.
- Work closely with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle to answer questions and clarify requirements.
- Track work using Azure DevOps or Jira while maintaining backlog health and sprint priorities.
- Communicate project status, scope changes, risks, and priorities to stakeholders throughout delivery.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by validating delivered functionality against business requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Create and maintain functional documentation, process flows, release documentation, and stakeholder communications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product delivery within a regulated software environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience serving as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role on Agile software delivery teams.
- Strong experience translating business and compliance requirements into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Strong experience within Financial Services is required, with Insurance industry experience strongly preferred and highly desired.
- Proven experience managing and prioritizing product backlogs alongside Product Management and business stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps or Jira for backlog management, sprint planning, and Agile delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience facilitating discussions across business, product, compliance, and engineering teams.
- Experience supporting Agile software development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven software environments.
- Familiarity with Unitrac, insurance tracking systems, or similar financial services platforms.
- Experience working alongside distributed or contract software engineering teams.
- Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), release planning, and product launches.
