Join a global automotive company known for its innovation, engineering excellence, and passion for developing world-class vehicles. We are seeking a Test Engineer to support our Transmission Control team within the Powertrain Systems group. This team is responsible for developing and validating control ECUs for critical vehicle systems, including the transmission, all-wheel drive, and electric vehicle systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in vehicle systems testing, validation, and control ECU development working in a collaborative, and multicultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full-cycle validation and testing of TCU (Transmission Control Unit) systems. This includes preparing test plans, executing vehicle-level operation verification tests, analyzing data, and presenting findings to technical leaders.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and specifications for transmission control systems and related components.
- Conduct operation verification testing on vehicles and test benches to validate system performance and confirm compliance with design and regulatory standards.
- Attend project meetings to understand change points, schedules, and deliverables.
- Prepare testing and activity plans and coordinate with various stakeholders, including the Section Leader, Technical Expert, and Technical Leader to ensure project alignment.
- Execute test activities, record and analyze results, identify trends or issues, and propose countermeasures or design improvements.
- Prepare formal test reports and present results to leadership for review and sign-off.
- Manage multiple assignments (typically 1–3 projects) throughout the lifecycle, from planning to reporting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with software, design, and calibration teams to support overall system performance and reliability.
Required Skillset:
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in automotive testing or validation (open to junior candidates with strong fundamentals).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with CAN tools and INCA is required; proficiency with CANalyzer and CANoe required.
- Programming proficiency in Python (primary), C, C#, and C highly preferred.
- Familiarity with microcontroller I/O, control logic, and software calibration.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and generate detailed technical reports.
- Strong understanding of vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN).
Bonus Skillset
- Experience working within Japanese business culture or bilingual proficiency in Japanese or Spanish.
- Experience in an R&D environment.
Contract Duration: 18–24 months (temporary fill)
Work Arrangement: 80% onsite / 20% remote
Travel: Up to 5% domestic travel
