Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assist with supervision of students in other settings.
2. Maintain a well-ordered learning environment.
3. Enforce directed study hall rules and procedures to run a smooth/efficient study hall.
4. Maintain an atmosphere of respect toward people and property.
5. Maintain an atmosphere conducive to independent study.
6. Monitor student behavior and work habits.
7. Communicate with staff regarding work and problems of any/all children.
8. Supervise students during lunch periods.
9. Maintain confidentiality of information.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. May be asked to participate in team processes for continuous improvement.
2. Perform tasks assisting clerical and administrative staff.
3. Perform other responsibilities set forth in the teacher assistant job description.
Qualifications
1. Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
2. High School diploma.
3. Able to interact tactfully, effectively, and courteously with students, parents, staff, and others encountered on the job.
4. Able to follow written and verbal directions.
5. Strong writing, language and computational skills.
6. Strong desire to make an impact with students.
7. Able to staff the position for the scheduled work day.
8. Experience in word processing.
9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
