SUMMER PROGRAM STAFF POSITION
June 1, 2026 – September 1, 2026

Position Overview
The Multicultural Outreach (MCO) Summer Programs are seeking motivated, dependable, and youth-centered staff members to support a variety of enrichment, recreation, and mentoring programs throughout the summer. Staff will work directly with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds while helping create safe, engaging, and supportive environments.

Programs may include:

  • SPARK Summer Program

• Swimming Program
• Soccer Program
• RYM 1 Mentoring Program
• Basketball Program
• ESOL Refugee Youth Mentoring Program

Responsibilities may vary by assignment but generally include supervising students, supporting activities, assisting with transportation and logistics, mentoring youth, helping facilitate recreational and educational programming, and maintaining positive relationships with students, families, and community partners.

Position Dates
Start Date: June 1, 2026
End Date: September 1, 2026

Schedule
Schedules will vary depending on program assignment, transportation needs, and field trip schedules. Most programming occurs Monday through Friday with occasional evening activities or community events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support daily youth programming and activities

• Build positive and respectful relationships with students
• Assist with supervision during field trips, sports, and enrichment activities
• Help with program setup, cleanup, attendance, and organization
• Support culturally responsive and inclusive environments
• Assist students with engagement, teamwork, and behavior expectations
• Communicate professionally with staff, families, and community partners
• Support transportation logistics when needed
• Participate in team meetings and trainings
• Assist with mentoring, tutoring, and social-emotional support for students
• Support transition planning for students entering middle school, high school, or post-secondary opportunities
• Assist with organizing community engagement activities and peer-to-peer programming
• Help maintain and organize program supplies and resource spaces

Mentoring & Youth Support Responsibilities

Staff supporting the ESOL Refugee Youth Mentoring Program may assist with:

  • Supporting students in the development of social and life skills

• Facilitating participation in community sports and recreational opportunities
• Supporting access to community resources and enrichment opportunities
• Assisting students in navigating American culture while celebrating and maintaining their cultural heritage
• Organizing peer engagement and group mentoring activities
• Providing academic support in English language development, math, and other educational areas
• Supporting career readiness through resume building, job readiness, and vocational skill development
• Assisting with health, wellness, and financial literacy activities
• Supporting summer field trips, transportation, and community-based learning experiences
• Assisting families and students with transitions and connections to school and community resources

Programs Included

SPARK Summer Program
Academic enrichment, recreation, field trips, and group activities designed to support student engagement and summer learning.

Swimming Program
Youth swim instruction, water safety support, transportation assistance, and recreational supervision in partnership with community organizations.

Soccer Program
Skill-building soccer program focused on teamwork, leadership, physical activity, and community connection.

RYM 1 Mentoring Program
Group mentoring program focused on life skills, leadership, wellness, identity development, and relationship-building for youth ages 15–21.

Basketball Program
Youth basketball development program focused on teamwork, skill-building, confidence, and school/community connection.

ESOL Refugee Youth Mentoring Program
Mentoring and support services designed to assist students with refugee backgrounds through academic support, cultural connection, leadership development, social engagement, and community integration.

Compensation & Hours

  • $20 per hour

• Limited part-time summer position funded through available grant funding
• Approximately 20–30 hours per week during the summer
• Schedule may vary based on programming and student needs

Work Environment
Staff should expect a highly active and team-oriented environment that may include outdoor activities, field trips, sports programming, community events, transportation support, and collaboration with multiple partner organizations and school sites.


Qualifications

Qualifications


  • Must be at least 18 years old

• Ability to work effectively with youth from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Reliable, flexible, and positive attitude
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Experience working with youth or diverse communities preferred
• Multilingual abilities are a plus
• Valid driver’s license preferred for select positions
• Willingness to adhere to all OASD policies and procedures
• Ability to document and communicate program-related information as required
