Description
Official Title: ESOL Multicultural Outreach Coordinator for Students with Refugee Background (SRB)
Position Summary
The ideal candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator. The ESOL Multicultural Outreach Coordinator is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Students with Refugee Backgrounds (SRBs) and with staff, managing grants and the application process, and submitting timely and accurate reports for existing and new grants. The ESOL Multicultural Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing and coordinating social/cultural programs and events that meet grant requirements. This position is funded through Refugee School Impact (RSI) and Refugee Youth Mentor (RYM) grants (5%), United Way RYM II grant (5%), Title IIIA (TBD %), Transfer of Service (TBD %).
Some evening, weekend, and holiday work is required. Some travel required.
Responsibilities:
Program Development
Regular meetings with program mentors
Regular meetings with Multicultural Outreach Navigator and with ESOL Program Coordinator
Planning field trips and activities
Collaboration with community organizations and create/maintain partnerships
General Administrative
Enforce grant and district policies
Coordinate and monitor the completion of required documentation
Coordinate and monitor the use of OASD vehicles for SRB transportation use

Staff Management
Recruit, interview, and provide new staff orientations
Provide continued opportunities for RSI & RYM program staff collaboration and professional development
Train and monitor the work of program staff, volunteers and/or interns
Transitioning newly arrived SRBs
Maintain a mutually beneficial partnership with World Relief Fox Valley (WRFV)
With WRFV, review UNHCR issued family profiles to verify accuracy of SRB information entered into OASD school records
Provide the Multicultural Outreach Navigator with the profile information necessary to support SRBs’ transitions to schools
Qualifications
- Required
Proven ability to connect with and communicate with immigrant populations.
Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
A collaborative attitude and evidence of successfully working within a team structure.
A high level of organization.
Ability to work with varied school and Oshkosh area communities.
Strong advocate and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion with proven ability to work with a diverse student and workplace population.
- Preferred
Professional experience working with individuals with refugee backgrounds.
Proven skill in working with an electronic student record-keeping database and Google Workplace applications; and a facility for mastering new software formats as needed.
Experience working with program coordinators, instructional academic staff, and students.
Grant writing and data tracking experience.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
