Expected pay for this position is $21.72 - $25.55/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
Overview
This job is located in Rockford,IL
Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Access Specialty Scheduler performs standard Patient Access functions and specializes in a variety of complex tasks in a location deemed as a specialty area. Demonstrates a high level of initiative and critical thinking skills to successfully solve problems without supervisory assistance or approval. Plays a crucial role in coordinating patients’ appointments within the Oncology Clinic. Understands complex treatment regimens to ensure correct timing and duration of appointments including consultations, follow ups, infusions/chemo treatment, scans, labs, imaging and biopsies. Collaborates through interactions among physicians’ nurses, patients and other facilities to ensure well-coordinated, timely care for patients. Understands the Revenue Cycle and the importance of securing financial resources to maximize reimbursement to the Health System. Possesses excellent patient service skills creating an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. Respects the confidentiality rights of patients, employees, and guests by adhering to and explaining guidelines as outlined by Compliance. Lastly, demonstrates an understanding of “need to know” with respect to confidential and private information.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma/ GED Experience: 2 years' experience in a call center, healthcare, and/or public health setting OR associate degree and one year of customer servicer relations experience. Licensure/ Certification: Healthcare Financial Management Associates Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (HFMA CRCR) certification within 12 months of hire. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. Knowledge of medical terminology. Advanced knowledge of terminology used by insurance and managed care health plans including, CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Experience with key OSF applications (EPIC, MS Teams).
